DALLAS COWBOYS 2012 PRE SEASON OPPONENTS

With the NFL Draft right around the corner and teams around the league cranking up their off season programs that means the season is getting closer and closer. With that said the NFL has released their preseason schedule and below is your beloved Dallas Cowboys preseason slate. Interesting to see that 3 of the 4 teams slated have new head coaches (Oakland/Dennis Allen, St. Louis/Jeff Fisher, Miami/Joe Philbin). Even though it would only be preseason I would have loved to see the Houston Texans on the schedule for a battle of Texas.

Week 1: at Oakland Raiders (ESPN)

Week 2: at San Diego Chargers

Week 3: St. Louis Rams

Week 4: Miami Dolphins

PRESEASON WEEK 3: @MIAMI DOLPHINS

The preseason is slowly coming to an end. The Dallas Cowboys starters looked crisp as they took down the Vikings of Minnesota. This Thursday the team heads to the “305” for their final preseason game against the Miami Dolphins. Don’t expect to see too many starters as this game is for the fringe and bubble players to have their last shot to land on an NFL roster. The cuts are coming soon ! FLIPPIN’ OUT STARTS NOW !

Dallas Cowboys Roster Shakes: From 90 to 53

The most recent Dallas Cowboys cuts:

#65 Andre Gurode (C)

#81 Curtis Clay (WR)

The release of 5x Pro Bowler Andre Gurode has to be the biggest cut of the Cowboys so far this preseason. Due to an injury in June that opened the door for second year player Phil Costa to take on some reps with the first team offense and also gaining time at center was rookie Kevin Kowalski. That along with being unable to reach an agreement to restructure Gurode’s contract led to him being out of the job. Of the staring offensive linemen in 2010 three of the five have been released. Gurode will not be without a team long. I will not be surprised if he lands with a contender a la Flozell Adams who was released by the Cowboys last year signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers who played in the Super Bowl.

The Dallas Cowboys roster now stands at 81.

PRESEASON WEEK 3: @MINNESOTA VIKINGS

After taking a loss at the hands of the San Diego “Super” Chargers the Dallas Cowboys showed that there are more than a few areas that need work. Despite the loss there was a bright spot or two for the team. This week they head to Minnesota for a final dress rehearsal for the starters. Will they be able to get things going against the Vikings ? FLIPPIN’ OUT STARTS NOW !

ALL MURRAY TEAM 2010 (CUT DAY EDITION)

We are less than a week away from the first game of the 2010 NFL season ! Before any team gets to the start of the season there are Organized Training Activities (a three word phrase for practice), training camp, and the pre-season. During this time some guys are playing for their lives because this could be the end of the road for them regarding a career in the NFL. Many say that the NFL should stand for Not For Long because at the blink of an eye you can be out of the league. With yesterday being Cut Down Day (The day all NFL teams have to get their rosters down to 53) I decided to create the All Murray Cut Day Team 2010 !!! If I had to get a team together these are the guys I would go with !

QB Troy Smith- I did not decide to go with weak armed Matt Leinart he has had chances and he blew them. If not for Smith’s “rare” case of tonsillitis in 2008 we may have never heard of some guy named Joe Flacco.

HB Willie Parker, HB Ladell Betts- 2x Pro Bowler throw in being a starter on two Super Bowl championship teams and Parker still can’t find a job after being released by the Washington Redskins.

WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh, WR Brandon Stokley, TE Anthony Becht- The TJ Project in Seattle was an #EPICFAIL especially since the Seahawks still owe him money after his release. Stokley had one of the best plays last year versus the Bengals when he caught a deflected ball an ran to the end-zone for 6. That was not enough to keep him in Denver. I remember his White-on-White crime against Jason Sehorn in Super Bowl XXXV. (Sehorn was never the same.)

T Jon Jansen, T Kirk Chambers, G Josh Beekman, G Max Jean-Gilles, C Justin Hartwig- Jansen was a guy who actually WANTED to play with the Detroit Lions ! That should earn him a spot alone. Jean-Gilles the first active NFL player to receive the lap-band surgery.

E Raheem Brock, E Bobby McCray, T Damione Lewis, T Junior Siavii-McCray, get married in July get cut in September. will not be surprised in Saints bring him back down the line. Lewis, a first round bust who may finally “get it” after getting 15 starts for the New England Patriots last year.

LB Derrick Burgess, LB Bobby Carpenter, LB Darrell Reid-You know how the New England Patriots roll ! They will cut you and keep it moving starter or not ! Burgess now knows this. Work out wunderkind Bobby “Barbie” Carpenter needs to thank the Big Tuna for being in the NFL. Will excel at special teams.

CB Nashan Vasher, CB Cletis Gordon, S Al Afalava, S Quintin Demps-Vasher’s career seemed bright then injuries, injuries, injuries. He has not been the same since 2005 his best season. Gordon had an excellent pre season with the Dallas Cowboys but it was not enough to make the team.

K Swayze Waters, P Glenn Pakulak, UTIL. Pat White- Swayze Waters…best name in football hands down. The NFL experience has not gone well for Pat White. Do I think he has the skill to play in the NFL ? Yes. Could he have a better career playing another sports ? Yes ! If I were Pat White and I did not receive the interest I want from teams in the NFL I would go back and play baseball. He turned down a six figure deal with the Anaheim Angels to go and play college football at West Virginia.

By the time you read this some of these guys will have found new homes. Thanks for reading !
